Counselor Education and School Psychology
Plymouth State’s counselor education and school psychology offerings include nationally accredited programs and ones leading to New Hampshire licensure, options and programs that prepare graduates for careers in the helping professions, schools, and the human services field.
The clinical mental health counseling (MS) program is nationally accredited by The Council for Accreditation of Counseling & Related Educational Programs (CACREP) and features flexible scheduling for full-time students and part-time working adults. The marriage and family therapy (MS) program provides knowledge and skills needed for licensure and concentrations are available in Addictions Treatment, Eating Disorders, or Play Therapy.
School counseling (MEd) leads to K–12 certification and is nationally accredited by CACREP. School psychology (EdS) is National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) approved and leads to certification at both the state and national level.
Plymouth State University offers courses in play therapy, which is a natural form of communication that allows children to communicate their awareness of what is occurring in their world in a manner that is cognitively and developmentally appropriate. Courses can be taken individually for professional development, as a series to earn the play therapy certificate, or as a concentration in many counselling related programs.
The organizational leadership (MA) program is designed for growth-oriented individuals and professionals working in business, government, social services, allied health, education, and the sciences who are interested in developing and enhancing their leadership skills. Health Education and Promotion (MEd) is a unique program with concentrations in Eating Disorders, Health Promotion, and K–12 Certification.

What Our Students Say…
“I can’t believe how much I’ve grown as a professional and as a person in the Mental Health Counseling program. While the Counselor Education and School Psychology Department is strong academically and systematically, I believe that its greatest strength resides in the support of the faculty members. Throughout each step of the way, I felt guided and nurtured in solidifying my professional identity and honing my counseling skills.”
—Graduate of mg摆脱网站’s Mental Health Counseling Program
“The HRSA stipend helped me to be able to focus on my growth as a student counselor in my internship rather than having to juggle a busy work schedule along with school and an internship!”
